New Years Resolutions Versus Using The Wisdom of Every Moment For Clarity
There's always a lesson to be learned.
Happy new year everyone. It’s been a while since I posted and I plan to be more consistent with my output from here on out.
The intention behind this article isn’t to downgrade new year resolutions. The new year can feel like a fresh start and an opportunity for self-improvement. And if you find that to be a motivator for your own well-being, by all means, make those resolutions and stick with them.
The problem is, many don’t. In fact, many fall off in a matter of weeks because life gets in the way. But is it really because life gets in the way? Or is it deeper than that?
The real reason why many people fall off their new year resolution goals comes down to mental patterns. The goal cannot keep up with the lifestyle, so the goal drops and the lifestyle resumes.
But why is that lifestyle the way it is? Why do you continue to go for the fast food drive through instead of a healthy meal after work? Is it really because it’s more efficient? Or is it because that’s what your mind gravitates to for comfort? (Even though it’s damaging your body and mind).
People use “life” as an excuse to go back to comfortable destructive habits, but it’s the very nature of their thought patterns that keep them tethered to such habits. If you decided to structure your thoughts around maximum wellbeing instead of so-called comfort, you will plan around your healthy means instead of planning junk food around work or school. You will find time to be in nature and exercise. And most of all, your body and mind will thank you.
But, most importantly, it does not have to be the beginning of a new year to decide enough is enough and take matters into your own hands. You are an intelligent being who can easily understand what’s toxic and what’s beneficial to you. And that can go for diet, sleep, relationships, etc.
Every single day is an opportunity for growth. Every day is an opportunity to help someone in need. Don’t wait on some outside force to give you a green light to be the best version of yourself possible. That best version is already inside you. It just needs repetition and discipline.
You can use every experience in your daily life as a lesson for growth. You have a strong will. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It’s your time to shine.
