Gratitude For All Things. Yes, I Mean ALL Things.
When one gets deep into working with their mind, their surface level definition of gratitude no longer applies. On a surface level, people are grateful for the good things (or moments) in their lives: their kids/birth , their spouse/wedding, their homes, etc. On a more realistic note, many people don’t even stop and smell the roses with those things. They are too busy focusing on getting through the day and dealing with the little irritations they’ve clung onto. So what is gratitude? On a deep level I mean. Really, it’s a constant realization that you are lucky to be here. Many who have been on this Earth don’t get the privilege to wake up in the morning. When was the last time that popped into your head? Wow, thank you for another day (and it doesn’t have to be a god if you’re not religious - just a general appreciation).
When your mind dwells on the troubles and irritations in life (many of which you cast upon yourself through your learned habits), that’s the lens through which it will view everything. It will become a more irritable and angry mind. And guess what? If you do the opposite and focus on what you’re grateful for (and you will find at least a few things, trust me), you’re going to be in a better place mentally. It just takes practice for your negative habits to be transformed into positive ones. Those that are TRULY happy are not constantly chasing the next reward - that’s a very surface-level and shallow life. No, my friends. True happiness stems from gratitude at all times. And here are some passages that you may find helpful:
I am grateful for my life, as many before me are not granted that privilege.
I am grateful for my home, for it provides me safety and shelter.
I am grateful for my bed, for it provides me warmth and comfort.
I am grateful for my family and friends, for they provide me with joy and support.
I am grateful for the hard times that I have gone through, for they provided me with strength and resilience.
I am grateful for all the good times, for they lift my senses and give me a zest for more.
I am grateful for a sound mind, one that constantly grows with knowledge and insight.
I am grateful for all things at all times. For it is the root upon which real growth blossoms.
Have a wonderful day.

This reminds me how easy it is to treat gratitude like a checklist instead of a mindset. With everything I'm doing, its tempting to only focus on what's next. At the end of the day, we forget too often to enjoy the things we have built for ourselves-struggles included.
