3 Habits You Can Start Applying This Week To TRANSFORM Your Life
Practice Mindfulness And Meditation
When you’re stuck in a situation and can’t see anything past it, you’ve let the situation dictate your habits, and so the negative thought patterns create negative emotions which create destructive habits. Thankfully, there are various solutions to this, two of which are mindfulness and meditation practices. These practices allow you to gain an outside, neutral perspective on your own situation. This then allows you to think about said situation more clearly and therefore be able to handle it more efficiently. Think about it this way: Why are most of us far better at giving good advice than applying good advice? Say a friend comes to you about their situation and asks you for advice. You’re probably going to give them sound advice that tries to address their problem in a reasonable manner. Why? Because you’re observing their situation objectively (from the outside). Mindfulness and meditation are techniques that help you practice the same thing with your own situations. They also help you stay present instead of constantly ruminating about the past or worrying about the future.
Clean Up Your Diet
They say you are what you eat for a reason. Your diet is your body’s fuel source. If you’re eating processed food, added sugar, refined carbohydrates, trans fat, and highly inflammatory seed oils on a daily basis, your overloading your body on junk which then leads to not only you feeling terrible, but also chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, heart disease, and even depression and anxiety. For foods and beverages you want to avoid, think deli meats, pastries, chips, fried meat, soda, fruit juice, canola and safflower oil, french fries, etc. What do you want to eat? You want to eat fresh, unprocessed foods that provide your body with powerful, anti-inflammatory nutrients and therefore a surge of energy and vitality. Think foods loaded with antioxidants and fiber, such as berries (and other low-sugar fruit), beans, oats, cruciferous and leafy vegetables, ground seeds (such as flax and chia), and nuts (almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts). Wild low-mercury fish such as salmon, sardines, and Atlantic mackerel are healthy, as is chicken in moderation. Replace refined carbs such as white rice and white pasta with whole grain alternatives such as quinoa, millet, or brown/black/red rice. Replace soda and fruit juice with plain water (or sparkling water), tea such as green tea, hibiscus, chamomile, ginger, or other herbal varieties. Just make sure they don’t contain added sugars. You will feel better in DAYS when you clean up your diet.
Cut Negative People Out Of Your Life
You are not only what you eat, you’re also who you spend time with. If you’re constantly around people who like to gossip and ridicule others, you’re welcoming drama into your life. If you’re constantly around people who discourage you, put you down, and point at your flaws, you’re welcoming negativity into your life. And these people have a far grater influence on you than you think. Their attitudes follow you subconsciously well beyond the moments you spend time with them. What does that mean? Their drama and negativity are being transferred onto you. And your life is being dragged down because of it. Want to break the cycle? Stop spending time with them. This can sound uncomfortable at first (as does breaking any negative habit), but you have to face discomfort to grow. Go meet new people who inspire positivity and creativity. They will foster the same in you. And then you will reach into your untapped potential and unlock it, being the most powerful version of you possible.
